Nothing is Better Than a Burkville Hug

Lay Ministries

Burkville Memorial United Methodist Church

Lay Ministries

We are a small Church with a big heart.  We are willing to serve our community. God's word makes it clear that faith without works just won't work.  We are to love our neighbor.  We are commanded to love as He has loved us.  That is why we serve Him.  Because of what Christ has done for us!  We are willing to have more ministries but we cannot do it without you!  If you have a passion to serve, and have the desire to start a ministry that you can do, come and talk to us.  Serving Christ in action!

Food Pantry Ministry:

We stock a small food pantry at the Church.  People buy and donate items as they can.  We use these to help anyone who is truly in need of emergency food.  We also help those who find themselves in unexpected situations.  We do have some who just come by with an immediate need.  We try to help.

Clothes Closet:

We have a clothes closet which we have setup in the upstairs section of our church.  We accept clothing donations from anyone who wishes to give them.  We never sell anything.  We have these item for those who have a need.  Whole families or individuals are helped.  We can even help with clothing in the event of a total loss due to catastrophe, such as fire or flooding.  We use this to serve the community and even help with referrals from other Church's and from the local counties DHR.

Senior Box Food Program:

Each month we deliver a food box from the food-bank (MAFB) to senior citizens who qualify for the program. During Nov. & Dec. they receive two boxes.  Right now we have eight boxes going out.  That is eight people or eight families being helped.  The cost to sponsor someone is just $100/year.  Anyone may sponsor an individual.  We have several individuals who contribute to this ministry.  Perhaps you or a group from your work place would like to donate and sponsor someone?  We need help in picking up the boxes and in delivering the boxes.  Would you like to help?

Sometime Singers      Playing at local Nursing Home       Visitation

Sometime Singers:

We have an active group that goes around monthly to pick guitar's, sing & minister to the local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.  Many go just to help how ever they can. If you cannot sing or play an instrument or speak just come on and enjoy the company, those who hear them receive a blessing, a time of fun, and a Word from the Lord.  Those who participate seem to receive as much of a blessing as the listeners.  Life is hard, many are lonely and have no one who comes to see them.  That's why we are here, the Sometime SINGERS!  Come, help, participate and be enriched.
